A local junior football team got what they asked for this Christmas when they received a donation of £5,000 from Ask Developments.

Urmston Town Junior football club were given the money from the developers of Urmston Shopping Centre towards the running of the club, primarily for the sponsorship of the kits.

The club, which holds its coaching course for five to eight year-olds at the JJB Soccer Dome at Trafford, started 10 years ago with three teams and now has 22.

Ask Developments - one of the North West’s leading commercial property development companies, agreed to donate £5,000 to the club, as part of its philosophy to assist with local clubs and organisations in towns and cities where they have schemes.

The football kits are now adorned with the distinctive Ask question mark logo on the front and will be worn by around 50 children in the Under-8s teams.

Julie Moorhouse, Development Executive at Ask Developments, said: “We were pleased to make this donation to the junior football club which will go someway to helping with an organisation that involves hundreds of players and which reaches a much wider community.”

Chris Cole, Club Secretary for Urmston Town Junior Club said: “We are delighted to receive the money which will go towards the vital running of the club which now has over 250 players. It is difficult to generate funds and this is very much appreciated.”

Ask Developments was selected by Trafford Council to redevelop Urmston’s shopping centre scheme, which will spearhead the regeneration of Urmston and create 140,000 sq ft of retail and leisure and 144 residential apartments.

Urmston Town Juniors holds its winter coaching sessions at the JJB Soccer Dome every Saturday from 10am to 11am until March 2008. It is open to all children from five to eight years-old. For more details contact Club Secretary Chris Cole on 0161 282 7589.
