Ask strengthens its board

Ask Property Developments the Manchester based regeneration specialist has appointed Alan Burke to its Board as an Executive Director to strengthen its strategic partnership capability as part of an overall bolstering of its resource in light of its increasing development portfolio.

In addition the company is appointing a further Development Director, a Senior Development Surveyor and two Project Managers.

Burke, a highly respected self-employed practitioner specialising in strategic mixed-use public:private partnership projects, brings a wealth of expertise in the complex funding and delivery of major capital projects having served as Development and Funding Advisor to Manchester Millennium Limited, the company responsible for the reconstruction of Manchester City Centre’s retail heart following the 1996 bomb.

He also played a pivotal role in the regeneration of both East Manchester and Ancoats where he acted as Development Director for the URC and Urban Village Company respectively in their formative years.

Ken Knott, Chief Executive of Ask commented “Alan’s addition to the Board represents a real coup for the company since he brings a remarkable depth of delivery expertise in ground breaking major transformational projects which complements the overall team brilliantly.”

Burke, a Non Executive Director with Langtree Group plc will wind down his existing business which has focused of late on two major projects in Liverpool, the Waterfront and Commercial Quarter unlocking 2.35m sq ft of mixed use floor space and two Manchester City Centre projects involving over 3.5m sq ft of floor space.

Alan Burke said: “ I am delighted to be joining the Board of Ask, a business I know well and one which has a superb delivery track record, an amazing portfolio of mixed use sites and high level ambitions for the future”.

Burke, a Chartered Surveyor has held senior positions at both PricewaterhouseCoopers and English Partnerships. He will join the Board as Executive Director with a remit to strengthen the company’s activities in public investment and development portfolio partnerships and will work closely on expanding the activities of the Ask:Morgan Stanley Investment and Development Fund.
