Askbury, a joint venture between Ken Knott's Ask Developments and Bury council, has agreed a prelet at its £80m Townside Fields scheme in Bury.

Six Town Housing, an arms length management organisation set up in April 2005 to manage housing stock on behalf of Bury Metropolitan Borough Council, has agreed terms to take a 20,000 sq ft office building as part of the first phase of the scheme.

The first phase comprises four commercial builidings, where work has already begun on a 50,000 sq ft health centre for Bury Primary Care Trust, a 40,000 sq ft office building next to the town hall for the council and a three storey, 400 space car park.

A 110 bedroom Premier Inn hotel is expected to start on site in the first quarter of 2009.  The completion of all four buildings, which will total 155,000 sq ft, is expected by spring 2010.  The entire first phase is prelet.

Leon Guyett, senior development executive at Ask Developments said: "For all four buildings in the scheme's first phase to be prelet during difficult market conditions is a demonstration of the strength and depth of the development at Townside".
