This is the first time a category has been dedicated to projects that put sustainability at the forefront. Ask’s entry was based on its redevelopment of Manchester’s Grand Island site into Number One First Street, a project that has secured the temporary relocation of Manchester City Council.
Over 870 guests were at Manchester Central to see Ask pick up the award at the glittering black tie event, which was hosted by TV star Jimmy Carr. The awards comprise thirteen different categories and are decided by an independent panel of judges covering areas of expertise right across the commercial property spectrum.
The judges’ citation read: “What can be more sustainable than reinventing a building that’s already there” Number One First Street, where green features include living green walls and geothermal boreholes, is one of only eight UK buildings to achieve a post-construction BREEAM Excellent certificate and is a worthy winner.”
