Ask Developments has appointed outgoing Manchester Airports Group chief executive Geoff Muirhead as non-executive chairman.
Mr Muirhead, 60, will retire later this year after 22 years in Manchester Airport roles including his current CEO role since 2001. He will take up his Ask role in June.
Ask Chief Executive Ken Knott said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Geoff on to the board. He has overseen the remarkable expansion of Manchester Airports Group, and he brings a huge experience of finance and business.
“Geoff also has experience of strategic development projects and public-private partnerships, which will be of great value to us.
“As Non-Executive Chairman, Geoff will enhance the strategic and financial capability of Ask Developments. We look forward to working with him as we seek to maximise the performance and the value of the company.”
Mr Muirhead, a former Chairman of the Confederation of British Industry Northwest, said: “It is very exciting to have joined a dynamic organisation which has a strong reputation for delivering innovative developments of quality.
“I look forward to working with Ken and the Ask team to deliver Ask’s impressive portfolio of development opportunities to the same high standard.”
During his time as chief executive, Mr Muirhead has overseen the construction of Manchester Airport's Terminal Two and the second runway, and the acquisitions of airports in Bournemouth, Humberside and East Midlands which have made MAG the second biggest airports operator in the UK.
He replaces as Ask’s non-executive chairman Alan Benzie, former chairman of housebuilder David McLean Groups, who stepped down late last year after a five-year tenure. Mr Knott said: “On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Alan for the significant contribution he has played in the company’s evolution. We wish him well in his future activity.”
Ask Developments has also strengthened its board with the appointment of Andrew Parker as Procurement Director and Jonathan Cross as Financial Director. Warren Partners represented Ask in their search for a new Non Executive Chairman.
