Twelve of the Ask Developments team proved that the company and its staff are leaner, fitter and stronger these days. They have completed a coast to coast cycle ride for charity.
The following Ask team completed the 135 mile trip: Ken Knott, Simon Bate Alan Burke, John Hughes, Julian Stott, Leon Guyett, David Burkinshaw, Neil Pickup, Andrew Parker, Jon Weston, Manish Sethi and Steve Crowther.
The team cycled the picturesque route from Whitehaven to Sunderland over a weekend. The team set off from Whitehaven and cycled through the Lake District, spending the first night at Penrith.
The second day of the Coast To Coast was the most challenging day of all – it’s shorter in actual mileage cycled but the level of difficulty is much increased with the ascent up Hartside Moore and Black Hill which at 1998 ft above sea level is the highest of the six peaks the team covered over the weekend.
The second night saw the team staying in Stanhope ready for an easier final day descending through Northumberland to dip their tired toes in the quayside in Sunderland by Sunday afternoon.
Ask Developments have so far raised 85% of the target of £7,500 for their chosen charities - Help for Heroes, Macmillan Trust, and Forever Manchester.
John Hughes, Director at Ask and team Captain said: “The team has been training for weeks and had a fantastic time on the coast to coast challenge, which we were delighted to complete on time. We’re committed to raising money for our chosen charities and are delighted to have reached our goal sum.”
With Civilian Military Fitness classes due to start at First Street, the Ask team will no doubt carry on their fitness regimes and join Council staff taking part in the modern fitness phenomenon that is sweeping the nation.
