The £43 million transformation of Urmston town centre will spearhead the regeneration of this up-and-coming suburb, generating a thriving retail centre and creating new jobs in the community,
The former council offices and adjacent vacant units have been demolished to make way for the new mixed-use scheme which will be delivered in two phases.
The first phase of the scheme is now completed: the 630 space shoppers' car park opened on 5 June, the 50,000 sq ft Sainsbury's store opened on 24 June and the new public library opened its doors to the public on 27 June. In addition to Sainsbury's, Boots, Costa Coffee, Greggs, Hallmark, Thorntons and HD Studio are now open for business, and the first phase of residential comprising 64 city style apartments are now completed.
Phase 2 comprises a further 12 retail units, 2 major restaurants and 80 apartments.
