Mixed Use

Ask is working in a dynamic partnership with Lancashire County Cricket Club, Trafford Council, Tesco and Stretford High School to bring forward proposals for the radical redevelopment of Old Trafford cricket ground which will transform the historic venue into a premier sporting destination, giving the Club the ability to bid for more high profile matches, including internationals.

This innovative sports-led regeneration strategy is part of a 50 acre mixed use neighbourhood in Trafford and in addition to the redevelopment of the cricket ground, a range of new facilities offering educational and training opportunities for the local community will be included.

Under consideration for the scheme is a range of mixed use activities including new business, residential, retail and leisure space, and a series of options for the listed Trafford Town Hall are evolving as part of the wider masterplan.

A substantive phase 1 was completed during 2012 including the new Tesco store, conferencing facilities, player and media facilities at Old Trafford and new sporting facilities at Stretford High.  During spring 2013 the remainder of the scheme and the completion of Old Trafford Cricket Ground will be completed.

In total the combined developments total over £120 million of investment, generating/safeguarding over 1,000 jobs and delivering professional and community sports facilities of the highest quality.

The ICC have, as a result, re-awarded Old Trafford Test Match status and the Ashes return in July 2013.

The scheme was supported throughout by every major sport, regeneration and tourism body across the region and is truly a landmark development benefiting the wider region.
